"Modern Art" is an interesting game by nature; no wonder so popular it is. In this game, every players is the owner of one art gallery, and tries to buy the paintings from others at lower prices, while selling paintings to others - of course - at high prices. Well, it is like playing in a simulated stock market, which is familiar to most Chinese people ...
But wouldn't be more exiting to play this game in a foreign language!
We got some foreign friends joining in this language exchange corner, who know some Chinese. So some interesting rules were created - in the game, Chinese guys speak English, while the foreign friends try to speak Chinese as much as possible -
Chinese girl 1: "How much would you bid in the open auction for this picture?"
Foreign guy 3: "额…十二美元."
Foreign guy 2: "我出十五!"
Chinese guy1: "I bid sixteen..."
In addition, it is great to notice that none of us felt so anxious when speaking English, perhaps because we were just so attracted by the game and "did not have time to be anxious" anymore... 🙂
