to Adam, KoH的历程回顾
"Sept 2006: We begin what Neil calls the "major push" for playtesters. Playtesting scenarios starts in earnest. I produce yet another finalized rule set. Here we focus on balance issues, with a number of small changes, too many to enumerate, but focused on keeping things realistic and playable.
July 2007: The main round of playtesting is winding down, although of course there are still games being played. We prepare for Outremer, now renamed Kingdom of Heaven, to go on P500.
November 11, 2007: Kingdom of Heaven goes up for preorder. It gets 86 orders in the first month. Some preliminary art is produced for an ad in Operations Magazine.
May 6, 2008: Kingdom of Heaven reaches 50% of its target number.
At this point, preorders slow. I'm busy at work, Neil is focusing on other projects, and Niko is a one man art-producing machine but swamped with other games. To kill the time I translate the A Las Barricadas rules for Niko. There are some rumblings that games on the P500 list might be pulled for lack of orders (though I never hear anything official about KoH).
May 2009: We reach 500 of 530 orders. I issue my ultimatum: 530 orders by the anniversary of the Fall of Jerusalem. Niko finds a brief window in his schedule, and offers to draw up some card and counter art. This is posted to CSW, and there is a rush of new orders.
June 24, 2009: We reach 530 orders!
Fall 2009: I work on getting the rules, scenarios, card files, etc. ready for publication. This is long work, as it requires a lot of proofreading, going over each individual card, asking "could this be phrased better? Is there any chance somebody will misread its intent?" etc.
December 2009: I turn in the "final" rules and scenarios.
Spring 2010: Niko begins work on the counters, we get a preliminary layout of the rules and scenarios. At this point we're hoping to go to print in May. Niko finishes the cards in April or May, I think.
Summer 2010: I'm slow getting edits back to Niko, and work on other, more advanced projects takes precedence. Niko lives in a cave for two months, only going out on Mother's Day.
August 2010: With WBC over, the final push begins. Niko begins working on edits.
September 2010: I start work on the final version of the components.
October 2010: The last edits are turned in, and being worked on. We should be ready for the printers any day now (note: the actual date of printing still hasn't been determined)."
