Lovecraft本人描述 Cthulhu 发音为"Khlûl'-hloo" 。一些学者指出Lovecraft所提供的是人类能对外太空发音最接近的模拟。Lovecraft去世后， [kəˈθuːluː]成为一种普遍的读法。
