"Your lordship, I must insist you remove this cur from the room. His lies have cost this court both money and the lies of my men."Wilhelm stands in the centre of the throne room, helm in hand, armour dented where the recent activity with the orcs got up close and personal.
"Come now, Wihelm, you must know my words have proven invaluable to the cause. Time and again I have provided advice that our lordship has seen fit to act on. Perhaps your men would have been better served by a better leader."Darius's words drip through the air like honeyed poison.
The graf leans towards Darius, motioning him closer. Whispering, the graf asks Darius to dissuade this brash young knight from such harsh words. Darius orders the guards to remove Wilhelm, and they hustle him from the court. Wilhelm allows himself to be escorted outside, and then he keeps walking, back to the inn where he currently is staying. He checks on his warhorse and heads up stairs. On his way up, one of his fellow knights infroms him that the graf has requested that the Osterknacht be present at the ball this evening-no arms or armours allowed, dress clothes and dancing required.
Darius departs from the court and returns to his chambers. The door closes behind him and a voice whispers from deep in the shadows near his bed."How much longer must I wait, Eslin'an? I hunger so..."
Darius shudders as the voice caresses the recesses of his mind."Tonight. The grand ball will feature the unveiling of graf's new stained glass window. I intend to savour the look on his face when he sees my alterations and the effect the Chaos moon has upon them."
Wilhelm tugs at the neck of his tunic. Blast all this dancing and fancy clothse, give me a sharp sword and an orc to slay. He makes his way down to the main room of the inn.Though it boasts only a small stage and but a handful of chairs, the main room is standing room only. Farmers and merchants rub elbows as they talk fearfully to one another."Did you see, Wilhelm?Did you see? The green moon has come in full!" Rushing to the window, Wilhlem is greeted by a horrifying sight. Absent the night before, the full might of the green moon Morrslieb stares down balefully at him. Heart chilling, Wilhelm returns to his room and dons his armour. Something foul will happen this night, and it will not find me unprepared.
Guests arrive at the ball, and pleasantries are exchanged. The hall fills and a troupe plays. Once the guests are inside, the doors close and Darius makes his way to the front of the room."My lords and ladies, may I present our most wise and benevolent leader in these dark times, the graf!" The curtains part behind him and the graf strides forward, clad in a shimmering purple garment that seems to ensnare the eyes. Darius gestures behind him at the fabric still covering the wall."This is the finest thing I have beheld, and I wish to show it to you, my friends." He nods to the servants on either side of facric, and they drop it to the floor.
Gasps greet the sight, but not the gasps the graf had anticipates. The window shows a smiling figure beckoning seductively to the onlookers, holding in one hand a strange sigil lit entirely by the light of the full moon outside. Within seconds, the entire assembly has become entranced by the window, and Darius once more stands before them."My friends, the times before us are grim. We face a most dangerous foe. Ourselves. Tonight we find ourselves united for the first time. Unified in the glory that is Slaanesh. Tonight you will take your invitations to your servants, to your families, to your merchant partners, and you will show them the symbols. Once they see them, there is no denying the strength of our cause."
