In 2013, after an archaeological dig on a City Council car park on the site of Greyfriars, Leicester, the University of Leicester confirmed that a skeleton discovered in 2012 was, beyond reasonable doubt, that of Richard III, based on DNA tests and confirmation with contemporary reports of Richard's appearance.
在2012年，考古人员于兰开斯特的Greyfriars街（小编注：此街以前为Greyfriars教堂，理查三世亦下葬于此，后于16世纪被毁，于是理查三世之墓亦被毁）中的城市议会停车场考古挖掘中发现了人类遗骸。兰开斯特大学在DNA检测和对比现代报告中关于理查三世的容貌后于今年确认，其中一具遗骸毫无疑问是理查三世的遗骸。
