On four-character sayings translation, it's such a difficult problem in a long period. I don't think it's a good idea to translate such a sayings into English one character by one character. In my opinion, it's better to express the meaning of a saying, rather than convert it into another language. However, one may find some idioms in his native language to suit the foreign sayings very well, and this will become a great work.
