I've been using a very simple (but effective, IMHO) way to play solo Battlelore, even with Lore cards. I used it to learn the game, but i still play this way from time to time (it's still challenging).
I play my turn normally, but the "opponent":
a)Has no command cards. Instead you draw TWO command cards at the beginning of his turn, and you play both of them, at the same time (you order all the units from both cards, in the opponent's army of course). You cannot order the same unit twice in a turn.
b)You treat Lore as always, but "he's" forced to play a Lore card as soon as he gets enough Lore tokens. You may keep the Lore cards "drawing-from-the-deck" order to avoid playing just the cheaper ones (that means that you cannot play a Lore card that you have just drawn if there was an older one).
And that's all. You're supposed to play fairly both sides. The point is that "the two cards advantage" is normally balanced with the possibility to choice what command card you are going to use, and it allows you to think strategically in your turn, and more tactically in the opponent's.
Let me know what you think, if you decide to have a go. Please notice that, at least, it's a very way to get the game basis.
