Ally, Qartheen If you win a challenge in which Pyat Pree attacked alone, instead of the normal claim effects, choose and kill a character controlled by the losing opponent.

Pyat Pree's ability changes the instructions for how to settle the claim effect for the challenge. That means the character ability works on claim, which then does the actual choosing and killing of a character. The Viper is not immune to claim, so he can be hit by the modified claim effect.Say, for example, that the Martell player has 2 characters out, the Viper and someone else. During a military challenge, the opponent plays "Winter is Coming," raising their claim value to 2. When the Martell player loses that challenge, he cannot say that the Viper is immune to the event that raised the claim because the event worked on the claim, not on the character. That makes sense, right? The Pyat Pree example works the same way.
